I am a Published Author. I find it exciting to be able to say this to people. I was 75 when Circumstantial Connections was published in 2016, so people find it interesting that I wrote a book at all. Now that I've started, I hope to be able to write several more.

My Story

Being an author has not been a life-long goal for me. I always have been an avid reader of other authors but was getting a bit bored with the seeming repeated theme of the books available in the Fiction/Romance area. Now that I am in the "Sunset Years" of my life, I thought I might try something new. Circumstantial Connections was the result. Once I had that finished, I felt there needed to be more about the characters, so I wrote Green Mountain Mysteries and Ship Shadows. I am now working on a third book that will tell more about the people in "Connections"

I live in a small town near the Chesapeake Bay in southeastern Virginia, USA. Poquoson is a quiet place, with only about 15,000 people. Here, it is not difficult to know almost everyone in town, so the stories in my books just about write themselves.

Patricia Apelt returns to the literary limelight with the release of “Green Mountain Mysteries and Ship Shadows” (published by Archway Publishing). The novel follows the ups and downs and lessons in the everyday life of the Melrose Farm family.

A sequel to “Circumstantial Connections,” this second novel of the “Melrose Farm” series narrates how a unique farm family, led by a loving matriarch, must face several obstacles and solve an ancient mystery. Readers follow the family’s plight as they divide the Melrose Farm and experience a hotel fire, lost children, a collapsed dam and raging river, hidden tunnels and caves, a plane crash, a potentially unsuccessful business adventure, and an unexpected pregnancy. Ultimately, their trials teach them how they are stronger together than they are apart.

“It is a ‘feel good’ story, with conflicts and concerns over what is going on in their lives, but with a happy ending,” Apelt says. “It gives a few hours of separation from the readers’ own lives and lets them become involved it a world with no politics, violence, hatred or bias.”
